I said this morning that I would start putting some of our blessing stories up on my blog. Without using names, here's my first one. Thanks for sending it to us. If you have blessed someone, write us and tell us what happened.
I left church Sunday morning with a list forming in my mind of the people I wanted God to bless. When Robin said not to exclude our enemies, I knew I had the right plan.
Although my enemies are few, there is a family member that I have lost contact with over the years that I felt needed God's blessing more than anyone I have ever met. She has suffered from a bitter heart and mean spirit for so many years and needed my prayers, so I had a plan forming on how to do it.
I left the church and stopped by my sister in law's house and she told me about her friend who's husband was very ill and would no live much longer. It came to me then that I should ask God to bless her and I was so happy to do so. She was a total stranger, but it felt that God was telling me to bless her, so I did!! Her response was positive, full of gratitude and came at the right time.
Went home and sent a message to the family member, telling her I asked God to bless her and her family and was pleasantly surprised that she responded. She seemed surpised at the time, although two hours later she reminded me of how she is a victim of mean people who make her unhappy, and I realized then that she really did need God's blessings and I had made a good decision choosing her.
My third choice wasn't my last choice, but was someone I love very, very much and am so grateful to have her in my life. At first, I was hopeful for a response and when I didn't receive it, I must admit I felt a bit disappointed. However, it occurred to me not long afterwards that I wasn't blessing my three choices to receive a response or a "thank you" or any sort of self gratification. Robin just wanted us to bless three people.....
